SC001 - Residential Building Approval Administration in NSW

This course is to provide Customer Service personnel and Building Certification Administrative staff with a greater understanding of the residential building approval processes for NSW.

The course will cover key aspects of the application process, submission requirements and the legislative framework surrounding Class 1 and 10 development in NSW


You should attend this course if you want to be able to:

  • Understand the NSW Building Approval Framework
  • Submit and administer Residential Building Applications under Complying Development & Development Application
  • Apply Building Code to New Residential Construction
  • Administer new development during construction & Occupation Certificate Applications

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this Residential Building Approval Administration in NSW course you will have;

  • Working knowledge of the legislative framework associated with Class 1 and 10 Development in NSW including development pathways.
  • Practical understanding of the submission requirements for Class 1 and 10 buildings building applications.
  • Basic understanding of the Building Code of Australia, Volume 2 and its application to new construction.
  • Identify and address key issues in administering new construction at each critical stage of the development process.

Chris is the RTO Manager of College of Building Regulation. Chris has a professional career spanning 18 years across both Training & Development and Building Surveying.

As a Building Surveyor, Chris has worked for Gosford City Council and The Hills Shire Council in Development Assessment roles before moving into private certification with the Local Group. Chris has established himself as an Registered Certifier specialising in Class 1 & 10 construction.
